Child migrants on their way to a better life?

The V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green is home to one of the world’s largest and oldest collections of toys and childhood artefacts.

I worked with them to create a learning programme for Secondary Schools supporting the Museum’s On their Own exhibition. On their Own explores the true stories of thousands of British children, migrated overseas between 1869 and 1970, many of whom never saw their homes or families again.

The Secondary programme carefully explores complex moral questions and sensitivities, while building students’ enquiry skills through the different experiences and perspectives of the child migrants.
