National Portrait Gallery: Coming Home

William Wilberforce by Sir Thomas Lawrence – National Portrait Gallery, London

The COMING HOME project sees the National Portrait Gallery sending portraits of iconic individuals to places they are closely associated with. This country-wide initiative will enable fifty portraits from the national Collection to travel to towns and cities across the UK, providing venues and communities with the opportunity to celebrate their local heroes.

I’m working with the Gallery to support its 50 partners in providing learning and engagement opportunities for diverse audiences across the UK. Through creative programmes and resources, audiences will connect with performers, artists, writers, innovators, activists, sportspeople and historical figures connected with their hometown.

We’re also making a series of films exploring themes of Home, Place, Identity and Belonging.
